Craig Olson, a leading Industrial Relations scholar, passed away on
February 18 after battling chronic illness for many years. Craig, the
LER Alumni Professor in the School of Labor and Employment Relations
at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, was a long-time friend
of Princeton's Industrial Relations Section who visited the IR Section
from 1990-1992 and again from 2016-2017. Craig made contributions to
a wide variety of problems in labor economics and industrial
relations, including, among others, the effects of labor unions on
union and nonunion workers, dispute resolution (grievance mechanisms,
strikes, arbitration), compensating differentials, employer-provided
health insurance, and executive compensation. Craig was a terrific
scholar and great colleague. He will be missed.
