Abstract

An increase in worker sorting across firms by skill has contributed to rising labor market inequality. I study the role of employer-financed health premiums as a possible reason for worker sorting in the US. Using matched employer-employee data, I analyze the effect of employer-financed health premiums on the employment and wages of college and non-college educated workers within firms.
